I'm Zach, a product designer based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

I believe software design can make people's lives better and more enjoyable — especially the kind of software people stare at all day. Most of my career has been spent on complex systems modeling and data‑heavy applications used in professional contexts.

I've led design on tools that help states submit Medicaid data from over 74 million patients, redesigned 30‑year‑old aircraft planning systems at FedEx, and built design systems from scratch at StreamSets and HashiCorp. Lately I've been working independently — designing complex SaaS UX and building the software.

Outside work, I like cooking and fermenting things, reading on the train, and spending time at Ocean Beach with my dog. I'm also slowly learning Russian.
